No Puppy Pumpkins :( for 2022

While we were so excited to find out how many little pumpkins Abby was carrying, we were sad to find out that there were zero (0) pumpkins 😫 (regarding the Griffin X Abby Litter) .

You see, when intact females go into their season..it either results in a pregnancy and birth or a hormonal/fake pregnancy. In both cases their bodies hold a certain progesterone level that helps the development of the pregnancy, or in cases of a fake pregnancy, it can produce faux symptoms. Abby was 100% giving the same signs as a true pregnancy, nipple development, appetite changes, SLEEPING lots, affection overload, etc. But unfortunately, the breeding did not take and the ultrasound showed that there were no detectable Fall/Winter puppies to be had.

It goes to show that you can do everything right, ensure you're working with the right dogs, do the right tests, find the best pairing, plan with their well-being in mind and it can still not pan out. For an intimately-sized breeder like us that wants to focus on quality and stay small, it can be a BIG hit to us mentally. The vets say that there is nothing concerning that they see, and it might just be a scenario in which Abby has to do TCI and perhaps multiple to ensure that the fertile windows are being met and the eggs are properly being fertilized.

Our plan for now is that we will try 💕 one more time with Abby on her next heat cycle and if we are successful, that's great and we will carry on. If not, we will likely spay Abby, and ✨ fortunately ✨ due to our approach & size, nothing will need to change in her world. We will then look to Taffy and Harry to carry the reigns and see what magic can be made 🥰.

Breeding responsibly is not an easy endeavor; it can be mentally, physically, financially, and logistically challenging. Especially when the most magical girl (in our) world has inexplicable bumps along the way. We are fortunate in the sense that our inbox is usually full with new applications for puppies and to have followers that regularly check-in. We appreciate the community of poodle folks, breeders, dog enthusiasts, etc...you really make our day in sharing and engaging with content that is light, but helpful, inspiring, and relatable. I'm sorry to be the sad news today but tomorrow is another day and the world moves on. We are lucky that Abby is good health and we have the time and capacity to plan for another day.

I'll be giving lots of booty scritches and belly pats to Abby from all of you 🥰🥹
