If you aren't already aware, we are an intimately-sized breeder.
So this means we, quite literally, at the moment one foundation female who is qualified and of caliber to partake in our program. Our goal is to expand by a little and over the course of time, evolve, but we never hope to grow too large as part of our goals is to maximize the life quality and balance for our girls. With this in mind, we are not someone that can be dialed up at whim and provide you with 3 precise dates of upcoming litters in which you could place a deposit to reserve a spot. The timing of our litters will greatly depend on a variety of factors and until those beautiful puppies are here with us on the ground, it's always tentative. We hope & wish for everything to go as planned, how we planned it and when we planned for but alas, we are talking about little miracles. Little lives that we pray for, and hope for, and have worked endlessly in preparation for. But as much as we tell mama Abby that we would really love a litter born on "August 15" so that we can have great rearing weather, be able to place puppies in early fall, can avoid vacation conflicts, or holidays, etc...she just won't listen (lmao) because that's just not the way Mother Nature works.
A heat season is somewhat predictable but not always and it can vary by female and even by yr. All that we can do on our end is make 100 percent sure that when that window of opportunity opens, we are prepared to definitively answer whether the breeding/whelping/rearing window is compatible with life's schedule (or not) and that we have every other part of our plan laid out, including contingency plans in case things don't go according to plan (as they can). So, if you ever have a personal conversation with me, it may not be the same as talking to other breeders. I can explain a bit about our current state, what we think could happen in the future and let you know what we're hoping for. But I almost always add, "if everything works out that is," because I don't like to over-promise on things that can't be guaranteed. I love working with folks that understand the relationship they are gaining and appreciate the reality of why we have the approach we do. I can't always give you exact information (which as a planner, kills me) but I can let you know that whatever timing ends up playing out, will be worth the wait.
All things considered, my hope is that Abby comes into "season" the during a complimentary window of time (beginning June- beginning July 2022). If it happens during that window we should be good-to-go. Our reproductive vet has said Abby seems in wonderful shape regarding her recovery. If we do proceed with this litter we will skip the following season. We are currently lining up our stud options and prioritizing them based on our longterm goals. All studs are CHIC level, and all fall within our temperament-goal perimeters. The largest difference is the color combo possibilities and variance of titles and/or focus of skill sets. It is possible for us to have pups that would be ready-to-go to their new homes in late October-late November 2022. If she comes in too early, or a month behind, we may not be able to proceed with this next heat as it would put us too far away (geographically) from Abby during some benchmarks of her pregnancy and I wouldn't feel comfortable with that.
We do have a reservation process but because we are such a small program, there are some things we have to play by ear. I keep an interested parties list, (which yes we have a list) but since things can change (both on our end and for clients, etc) it's less pressure on everyone to do it this way until we have a confirmed pregnancy. As always, we encourage interested potential puppy matches to fill out an application on our page so that when we do have a litter announcement, you are at the top of the list of people to be notified.
Appreciate you all and have a great day!
