Amazon Prime Days: Poodle Deals (aka Puppy Preparedness!)

I was writing an Amazon Prime day list for our puppy families to check out and make home life with their new family member go a little more smoother. I figured we should share on here too as these are really just resources for any poodle/large dog family. I tried to focus on the things that we really utilize and although I haven't verified that everything is on sale, there definetely are some that have cut prices impressively. Keep in mind that some items will be discounted but not 'listed' as a Prime Day deal. If you want to check out more, we do have an Amazon Storefront page that we do update from time to time and you can favorite as a resource. https://www.amazon.com/shop/kettlecovecurls.poodle (we are eligible for commisions as an FYI!)

Items for the home:

  • Blink Camera: I couldn't recommend these more, we operate three of them currently inside. Two are for the nursery area but we run one constantly for in the grooming room/curriculum space to keep watch on our bigger dogs when we're gone and/or when we have the puppies playing inside the room. You can talk to your dog and hear what's going on on their end. You can view live view for free but if you would like access to recorded clips (which I do) you can get a reasonable subscription. link --> https://amzn.to/44AMuYm

  • Dog Bed - I like a couple types, either the raised beds https://amzn.to/44AQMiv or the oval ones with a ridge https://amzn.to/44heZuh (we have one similar to this from chewy https://prf.hn/l/0Gzyn5G )

  • Tie Out - I like to have a tie-out available to us while we spend time outdoors together and a young pup is getting used to the space they are allowed to go. Especially while they are small in the country it's important they don't wander off for hawks/coyotes. I got a cheaper one that first that drove me crazy with how it rusted and broke so quickly. This one is much sturdier. link --> https://amzn.to/3JN5Zor

  • Absorbent Floor Covering (the drymates have better traction but both do the job). This can be used in a pen or gated-off area for when puppy is still getting used to potty training or even just under their food and water dishes and lick mats while they're still a little sloppier. This is smaller size than we use but would work for Home life https://amzn.to/3NKi2nO The drymate ones can be cut to size as well so you can get a larger one and cut it up to the sizes you need link --> https://amzn.to/3D8BINq

  • 42 Inch dog crate - this should be large enough to last their entire life. I like the two door options as it gives you more options on where to place the kennel link --> https://amzn.to/3pMIDsj This is a great deal right now!

  • Pooper Scooper https://amzn.to/3O5i5Mi

  • Metal Play Pen - This may sound ridiculous, but I recommend the 48 inch, the 36 inch will do while they are puppies but if you want anything that will contain them past puppyhood 48 inch is good for everyone. I use these even traveling with the 3 poodles as I can put them in all together. I also use it in their main puppy area and around the nursery). I get the ones from Chewy (here https://prf.hn/l/ggJP3va ) but these look really similar https://amzn.to/44BGbUh

  • For cleaning, we really like Angry orange and also the clorox urine cleaner, both have been great tools for us in potty training and making sure one small mistake doesn't turn into many (angry orange) https://amzn.to/3pQ13IJ (clorox) https://amzn.to/3JR5ZE8

Treats, Chews, and Food

  • Earth Animal No Hide Rolls https://amzn.to/3PVWffP (medium would probably be okay for awhile, eventually you'll want to upgrade to the large

  • Tracheas (you can stuff these and freeze them for a long lasting chew or just give plain too like a pigs ear) https://amzn.to/43iIdIa

  • Victor Hi Pro Plus dog food, this is what I'll start the puppies on https://amzn.to/43eyQJq

  • Firm up Pumpkin https://amzn.to/44pNHSQ

  • Stella and Chewy Patties, I really like these because they are 'a complete food', whether I'm using for treats or part of supper, I know I'm not having them miss out on nutrients because I filled them up with some more empty 'sugary snack' if you know what I mean. Plus the dogs just love them and you can even stuff them in those tracheas I was telling you about. We like the lamb and the surf and turf best https://amzn.to/46Fa6Np

  • Rawbble Pork (and other freeze dried bits) - I'm not breaking up with Stella and Chewy's but I like this as an accompaniment --- they are a smaller-sized extrusion which makes them easier to give in small bits for training or as toppers without as much prep https://amzn.to/3NG4ObI

Grooming supplies

  • Shears Set - this is 8 inch and has curved, straight, blending and comb - its treated me well so far. Might replace soon after 3 yrs https://amzn.to/3O8FzAn

  • Dog Nail Clippers https://amzn.to/44uN61I

  • Flying Pig Forced Dryer - It is underestimated how much thing helps to make poodle coat maintenance more attainable. It helps grooms take less time, last longer and even helps prevent matting as the forced air helps blow out the smaller mats in the process. You don't have to get one right away but if you're home grooming, you will be thankful once you do. I used a plain hair dryer for the first 6 months or so of Abby's grooming life. Drying is a pretty important part of their coat maintenance unless you keep them very short https://amzn.to/3JRctmk

  • Slicker Brush (I’ll be providing a metal comb) -- Higher end of Price (Chris Christensen but it's like $20-some dollars off right now, even I'm shocked ha https://amzn.to/44y2IRS) --- Lower end of Price (Safari https://amzn.to/43iTNmu ) I have both

  • Wahl Deodorant Spray - This can definitely help extend baths for any potty related accidents. It's pretty mild and neutral smelling too so not over-powering https://amzn.to/3XImckJ

Training and toys

I also highly recommend shopping at Chewy, I've had great experiences, especially with items that I get on the regular. And, as always, I recommend trying to support your local pet boutiques as well; keep them in business so they're there when you need them!

Anyhow, hopefully, you can snag an Amazon deal while they last on some of these items that make life just a little bit easier for you and your puppy. If you have any questions on anything I'm going to include please feel free to shoot me a message!
