Taffy's Story
I have to believe that things happen for a reason. Having limited control over Mother Nature makes for an adjustment in my world. When our little singleton standard poodle pup was found via ultrasound in Dec 2021, it was a bit of a shock and I wasn't quite sure how to react. Mostly, we were excited someone was in there but I also felt sadness for the families who were hoping to get a puppy from this first litter. I did as I normally do and researched like a maniac and asked a million questions to ensure this wasn't something that would pose a major challenge in the future. From everything we've gathered, it can simply happen and it's very difficult to pinpoint the exact cause, especially if it only happens once. Things should not be further complicated moving ahead (aside from the c-section and the swallowing the additional expenses we'd incur), phew 😮💨.
So with that in mind, I was able to find renewed excitement about whether or not this little one could potentially be a female that was able to fit our program goals. On the day of her birth, the vet tech and I joked about the fact that all singletons seemed to "have peni$es 😆" so I was verrry cautiously optimistic...
When she came out, I couldn't believe it 🖤🖤🖤🖤. We of course kept our eyes on her (and will continue to do so) as she grew but because we had a contingency plan in place if she ended up not qualifying for our program, we decided she needed to stay here with us at Kettle Cove. Not only has she grown into her mom's best friend, but she also maturing right before our eyes into this most beautiful girl with a temperament to match. She's still growing of course and some things remain to be seen but for now, wow, we look back at this disguised good fortune and just thank God for ✨her ✨
